Afghanistan Online Press: Provides daily news / latest developments on Afghanistan from the world's press.

Afghan Information Management Service (AIMS). The AIMS website provides reports on who's doing what where, UNAMA situation reports, news and maps.

Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU) is an independent research institution that conducts and facilitates quality, action-oriented research and analysis to inform policy, improve practice and increase the impact of humanitarian and development programmes in Afghanistan.

ACBAR (Agency Coordinating body for Afghanistan Relief) is an umbrella organisation representing over ninety NGO members from the national & international humanitarian community in Afghanistan. ACBAR was formed in 1988 in response to the need for NGOs to coordinate their activities in order to maximize their efficiency and resources. The ACBAR Directory updated in October 2005 lists contact details for over 200 organisations in Afghanistan.

ACKU ( The Afghanistan Centre at Kabul University) provides the most comprehensive collection of materials related to Afghanistan in the region. ACKU aims to collect, store and share information with a wide body of readers in both urban and rural settings so as to encourage the development of qualitatively literate society capable of contributing to the growth of the nation. It also provides a congenial environment for interactions and interchanges by Afghan and international students and researchers, thereby strengthening research techniques.

Amnesty International: for latest reports on Afghanistan In June 2002, Amnesty International established a year-long project for the reform of the criminal justice system in Afghanistan. A report on policing was released in March 2003, followed by the report on prisons in July 2003. Two further reports focus on judicial reform and women in the criminal justice system.

The UK Government's Department for International Development website has a country profile page on Afghanistan, including the DFID Interim Strategy for Afghanistan 2005/06, related reports and statistical information.

The UK Government's Foreign and Commonwealth Office website provides a country profile on Afghanistan, political developments and key documents, including the Afghanistan Compact, and travel advice for visitors to Afghanistan.

International Consortium for Refugees in Iran (ICRI) provides an overview of the situation of Afghan refugees in Iran.

Japan Afghan NGO Network - a forum to share information relating to Afghanistan, in Japanese, with Japanese NGOs working in Afghanistan. The website also provides information in Japanese and English, including weekly briefings on latest developments in Afghanistan and reports on specific issues concerning the reconstruction process.

People in Aid have recently revised their Code of Good Practice in the management and support of aid personnel. The revised Code aims to help organisations to implement policies so that staff are better informed in the field on how to minimise security risks.
