International Rescue Committee UK is the European headquarters of the International Rescue Committee global network. It supports people uprooted by conflict or natural disaster to rebuild their lives quickly, safely and with dignity. International Rescue Committee UK has been supporting the Afghan people in their fight against displacement and poverty for the last three decades. Thier 650 staff, 99 per cent of whom are Afghans, work in nine provinces. International Rescue Committee UK have reached over four million people in more than 4,000 villages through community-driven employment creating projects, including the construction of more than a thousand wells and water systems, the building of nearly 350 schools and community centres, and the building or repairing of 12 health care clinics. They have helped 63,000 children access primary education. They’ve provided emergency response to some 170,000 people in eight provinces, including safe drinking water, sanitation and relief items.
