Afghan Monologues

09 June 2012

Croydon

Christine Bacon's Afghan Monologues brings to the stage the real words of men and women from across Afghan society, along with those of Western commentators. They include an Afghan doctor, a former advisor to President Karzai, an Afghan woman whose life has been profoundly affected by conflict, a British photo-journalist and a British woman working in Afghanistan.

Performed by iceandfire theatre company’s Actors for Human Rights Network, the event is being held in conjunction with Amnesty International UK.

iceandfire was founded in 2003 by playwright Sonja Linden, inspired by her seven years as Writer-in-Residence at the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture.  Its mission is to explore human rights stories through performance.

Location: St Peter’s Church, St Peter’s Road, South Croydon.  Time: 8pm

Entrance is free and no advance tickets are being issued.  A collection will be held afterwards for Amnesty International UK.
