Afghan Studies Group Seminar

02 February 2012

King's College, London

Lucy Morgan Edwards is a former political advisor to the EU Ambassador to Kabul. She has spent seven years working in the region for a number of organisations including the UN, the International Crisis Group, and as a writer for The Economist.

Her new book, ‘The Afghan Solution: The Inside Story of Abdul Haq, The CIA, and How Western Hubris Lost Afghanistan’, looks at the policy and intelligence failures surrounding the Western intervention in Afghanistan post-9/11, and focuses in particular on the west’s failure to engage with Abdul Haq, a prominent local leader and former mujahid during the Soviet-Afghan war. This event is co-hosted with the Intelligence and International Security Research Group at the War Studies Department.

Venue: War Studies Meeting Room (K6.07), Strand Campus, King’s College London.
