Globe to Globe - The Comedy of Errors, by William Shakespeare

30 May 2012 to 31 May 2012

The Globe Theatre

Afghanistan’s theatre company Roy-e-Sabs will be leaving Kabul for the first time to perform Corinne Jaber's new production of The Comedy of Errors at the Globe Theatre.

Roy-e-Sabs is a theatrical miracle. In 2005, the group performed Love’s Labour’s Lost in an ancient garden in war-ravaged Kabul, close to where the founder of the Mughal Empire lies buried. The controversial production saw men and women acting together, the women occasionally not wearing headscarves, and lovers holding hands - truly audacious things to rehearse and perform in modern Afghanistan.

Globe to Globe is an unprecedented multilingual programme of Shakespeare productions produced by Shakespeare’s Globe as part of the World Shakespeare Festival and London 2012 festival. Over six weeks every one of Shakespeare’s plays will be performed, each in a different language.

Performed in Dari Persian with an English synopsis
