Talk: An evening with Christina Lamb

Join Afghanaid and special guest speakers, Christina Lamb, Foreign Correspondent for The Sunday Times, and HE Dr Daud Yaar, Ambassdor of Afghanistan in the UK, for a celebration of Afghanistan and a chance to reflect on its people, its leadership and its future. 

Christina Lamb is a journalist who is currently Foreign Correspondent for The Sunday Times. In 2002, she wrote The Sewing Circles of Herat: my Afghan years and this year she co-authored the autobiography of Malala Yousafzai "I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up For Education and Was Shot By The Taliban.”  Earlier this year Christina visited a group of women in Samangan Province who have been helped by Afghanaid’s small business programme. 

Dr Daud Yaar graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Kabul University where he later took up a teaching position at as Assistant Professor. In January 2009, Mr. Yaar was appointed as economic adviser to the Office of the Chief of Staff of the President. In June 2012, he was designated as ambassador to the UK by His Excellency the President of Afghanistan. Mr. Yaar presented his credentials as ambassador to Her Majesty the Queen on 24th October 2012. 

The event is taking place within "Before The Dawn - An Artist's Journey through Afghanistan" an exhibition by Arabella Dorman at La Galleria Pall Mall in London from 4-15th November.
