As the US-led NATO forces withdraw from Afghanistan, the importance of regional players has become paramount. According to analysts, India-Pakistan rivalry is an enduring factor that may determine the contours of conflict in Afghanistan after 2014. How has India figured in Afghanistan since 2001 and where is the Indo-Afghan relationship headed? What implications will this have on stability within Afghanistan as well as the region?

The serving Deputy High Commissioner of India to the UK, Mr. Virander Paul, provides an insight into India-Afghanistan relations and how New Delhi views the Afghan question.
