Where we work

BAAG's Member organisations work across a large number of Afghanistan's provinces.  Click on the provinces of the map below to see which organisations are present there and details of their programmes.

Some of our members - Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International UK, Child Soldiers International and Global Witness - operate on a nation-wide basis rather than in specific provinces.

Strengthening Resilience of Afghanistan’s Vulnerable Communities Against Disasters (SRACAD)

The SRACAD project has been designed with a strong emphasis on community-based preparedness for natural disasters, with the principal vehicles for this work being government institutions, community structures and schools.  Given these weaknesses in the area of community-based disaster preparedness, the SRACAD project will work closely with government institutions to build capacity and understanding of resilience, DRR and climate-related risks through local community structures and schools. SRACAD aims to ensure that government institutions have the knowledge needed to effectively respond to natural hazards such as floods, droughts and avalanches, as well as plan for adapting to the wider impacts of climate change.
